Milky Spore Powder
OMRI® Listed . Milky Spore will not spread unless grubs are present in the soil. The more numerous the grubs, the faster Milky Spore is established. After Milky Spore has built up in the lawn, infected Beetle larvae will die and decay, releasing billions of new spores into the soil. This process will continue on its own, year after year. Once the soil is saturated with spores and the grubs are destroyed, Milky Spore will remain dormant and viable ready to go to work once again, should new grubs appear. In warm climates, spread of the Milky Spore bacterium can be fairly rapid, saturating and spreading for effective control in 1-3 years. Heavy infestation of grubs “ten or more grubs per square foot” show dire consequences and a chemical may be used along with Milky Spore to destroy the majority of the Beetle larvae, allowing Milky Spore to remain as a residual back-up against grubs that are resistant to pesticides and against future infestations. Milky Spore is not affected by insecticides or pesticides and may be applied along with such materials in an integrated pest management program.
