Merlot is an improved Red Dragon, but with deeper lavender-colored leaves inside and out. Pretty bicolored heads look just as beautiful in your garden as they do on your plate. The leaves range in color from bright magenta to red and are crisp with a crinkled texture, ruffled edges, and are striking in kimchee, stir-fries, and salads. This Napa type grows to 11-12” and is the quintessential ingredient in Chinese and Korean cuisine. Red Napa cabbage has a slightly sweeter flavor than green varieties, with mild notes of pepper.
