Groundbreaker Mix (N-Vest)
Starting at $12.00
A powerful blend of Austrian Winter Peas and Groundhog Cover Crop Radish, this mix is designed to improve soil health by fixing nitrogen and breaking up compacted, heavy soils. Austrian Winter Peas are excellent nitrogen producers, yielding 90-150 lb./acre, and are more cold-hardy than common pea varieties. They also contribute up to 5,000 lb./acre of dry matter, building soil organic content. Groundhog radish produces a deep taproot that naturally drills through tough soil layers. As the roots decompose over winter, they leave behind open channels that improve water infiltration, air flow, and overall soil structure. For best results, sow before September 1, right after removing sweet corn, tomatoes, or vine crops. Lightly rake or cover to ensure good seed-to-soil contact. This mix will winter kill.
