Diatomaceous Earth

SKU: 23TT25VOF7NG5K30

May be used by certified organic growers. Non-toxic, safe for household use. Diatoms are the grass of the oceans and lakes, just as green grass is the staple food of earth and animals. Diatoms are tiny organisms which are protected by a crystal shell. When DE organisms die, the shells pile up on the bottom to form deposits. These deposits are mined from underground beds and when milled, the dust-like particles are covered with microscopic, razor-sharp daggers. When soft-bodied insects crawl on plants dusted with DE, the sharp daggers penetrate their skin, causing dehydration and death. Many non-soft bodied insects will eat the DE, causing the same effect on the inside which is certain death! DE does not lose strength as long as it is present, but needs to be reapplied after a rain. Insects cannot build up a resistance to DE because it is not a chemical that poisons. Dust on after spraying with Surround for terrific organic control on a very wide range of pests. Apply to soil around melon and vine crops to deter cucumber beetle larvae. Any soft insects, i.e. slugs, aphids, various beetles, and caterpillars, can be decimated without chemicals. Duster Included. For animal use: While DE is a great source for trace minerals such as iron, potassium, magnesium, and other minor minerals, it has the same effect on animal worms and parasites as on garden insects! Can be mixed right in with the animals’ feed or mix with free choice minerals or salt. Cows and horses get from 1 – 2 oz per day and sheep, goats and hogs get about 1/2 oz. Dogs get 1/2 tsp. Duster Included

Great place! The seed variety is great

Planted all 10 seeds but only 5 germinated. It was strange summer weather so I'm sure that had something to do with it. I'm in zone 6 outside of St Louis. However, that being said, this was the absolute BEST melon ever. So sweet...everyone agreed on that. No disease at all. Amazing. Harvested a total 41 melons. Planted them May 18th. They germinated May 24th. Harvested the first group of 7 from Aug1st-6th. They all weighed over 6lbs. I continued harvesting through Oct 22nd. They started getting smaller throughout the growing season. The largest 6.50lbs. The smallest 2.31. Will definitely plant again.
